My Grand Cherokee died and will not restart. Why does that keep happening?
Most likely the fuel pump relay inside the Totally Integrated Power Module. Chrysler recalled the 2011-2013 Grand Cherokee and Durango in September 2014 (NHTSA 14V-530), widened it in March 2015 (15V-115), then recalled the same vehicles again in November 2019 (19V-813) because the first repair could itself fail. Electrical leads the 2011 model's file at 427 of 1,638 complaints.
Is the recall repair still free?
An open recall is performed at no charge by a dealer, however old the vehicle is. Run your VIN through NHTSA's lookup before you decide to sell — if the relay is the only thing wrong, you have a running Jeep to sell instead of a dead one, and that is a materially better offer.
Do Wranglers really hold their value at the end of their life?
Less than the internet says. The Wrangler does not appear in iSeeCars' 2026 top 25 for value retention, and its 2025 longevity study puts the Wrangler Unlimited at 4.5% reaching 250,000 miles, just under the 4.8% average. A twelve-year-old Wrangler is worth what its condition and parts make it worth, which is often good, but it is not immune to being a junk car.
My Wrangler shakes above 45 mph. Does that matter?
To the offer, some. A combined steering and power-train category leads the 2012 Wrangler's 832 complaints at 149, so buyers know the generation. A Wrangler that tracks straight and has had its front-end work done prices as a used vehicle; one that shakes is priced on the rest of what is there.
The 2014 Grand Cherokee has nineteen recalls. Will you still buy it?
Yes. Nineteen recalls and 2,374 complaints led by seats and power train is a lot of history, and none of it stops the sale. The body, interior, and drivetrain on a Grand Cherokee price well in New York's parts market whatever the campaign list looks like.
