Is a Sierra worth the same as a Silverado?
Effectively yes. A Sierra 1500 is a Silverado 1500 with different trim, and the buyers who set our offers treat it that way. The recall records are nearly identical because it is the same vehicle: nine NHTSA recalls on the 2014 Sierra to the 2014 Silverado's six, largely the same brake and airbag campaigns.
My 2014 Sierra has the dim headlight problem. Does it hurt the offer?
Barely. Exterior lighting leads that truck's NHTSA file at 181 of 858 complaints, ahead of service brakes at 111. It is a low-cost fix for a buyer and it does not move the number much. Brake and steering work, if it was done, is worth mentioning.
Should I sell a high-mileage heavy-duty Sierra?
Only if it has actually stopped earning. iSeeCars' 2025 study puts the Sierra 2500HD at 22.0% reaching 250,000 miles and the Sierra 1500 at 10.8%, against a 4.8% average. A running heavy-duty Sierra is a used-truck sale in New York, not a scrap sale, and the offer will show it.
How do you price a Terrain or an Acadia?
Like any crossover: whether it runs, whether the title is clean, and whether the catalytic converter is still bolted on. Under New York's 2022 law a processor must record the VIN a converter came from, so a Terrain missing its converter carries a replacement cost for the buyer.
What paperwork do you need?
GMCs from 1973 on have a New York title. If it is lost, DMV form MV-902 replaces it; for old enough vehicles a transferable registration is enough. Remove the plates before pickup and return them to the DMV so the registration and insurance stop.
